FAQ
How do I book a shoot?
Reach out to me through the Contact page here, by clicking Book Now at the bottom of any page, or via direct email, at peter@pbrphoto.com. You can also find me on IG @pbrphoto.
Do you provide Hair and Makeup?
An H/MU Artist can be arranged upon request, for a separate fee. Everyone has different needs and I like to stay as flexible as possible. Prefer to do your own makeup? Great! Need a recommendation? Happy to help! Have your own peeps? No problem! We'll find a perfect place to setup and accommodate you and your team. Regardless, some attention to hair and makeup is strongly recommended (esp. for women), and if you are providing your own H/MUA, please come camera ready for the first look. But also be aware, too much makeup is probably the #1 reason your agent will request a reshoot. So, less is more, especially for your first look :). Try to stay as natural as possible and save more stylized looks for second or third. We can always dial things up but it's harder to pull back once you've gone too far.
What about wardrobe?
Every shoot is going to have different goals. We'll discuss this on our call and talk about what you have, and what you're trying to achieve. Maybe we'll have a certain outfit in mind. If we're doing headshots, I recommend a few options that don't distract from the real attraction, your face! But we are aiming to achieve some variation so let's figure out what you want to walk away with. Are you needing a specific character to fill out your portfolio? Looking for something that shows off your true personality? We'll come up with a detailed plan of what you should bring to capture those looks. Generally though, I recommend avoiding busy patterns and super-bright colors. Unless that's your thing! We'll talk it all through beforehand so we have a solid plan.
What is your typical timeline?
Once you decide to reach out, we have an initial call to discuss your goals and what you need to get from a session. We'll set a date for the shoot, and discuss any hair/makeup/wardrobe details, what to bring, etc. After the shoot, I'll usually have selects to you in a couple days. Once you've picked your retouch frames, it takes me about a week to process the final images. Additional frames take a bit longer and hard prints follow a different timetable.
Do you travel/work internationally?
Of course! Let's discuss your ideas and come up with a plan. The world is our oyster!
What payment methods are available?
Cash, Venmo, Paypal, CC (to be added shortly).
Do you offer payment plans?
I'm afraid not. Payment is due at the time you book the shoot, with H/MUA and any additional photo purchases settled at the shoot or after. But I assure you, you're going to have a great time and we'll make some incredible pictures, I promise!
What's a "look"?
A "look" is basically considered to be one outfit and one background. Will adding that coat for a few optional frames be considered another look? Only if we're trying to get a full range of emotions/expressions out of each change, but if it's just for a few extra shots, nah. Additional looks can be added for $100 each (any additional H/MU fees are negotiated separately).
Do you do reshoots?
I'm afraid I don't, but I always make sure you're happy with the shots I take. You'll always get a chance to review frames during the shoot so you can see if we're getting what you need. I run a pretty chill set and you are always welcome to speak up and let me know we need to change direction or do something different to achieve your goals. It's also important you come prepared to the session, by doing your own research on the type of image you are looking to create, or discussing with your representation prior to the shoot on how they aim to market you. If you've received guidance from an agent, have your own goals, or have no idea what you're after, we will discuss all this ahead of time, so there should never be a need to go back and shoot again. Of course, if there is some technical malfunction and we are unable to shoot any usable photos, a reshoot can be arranged.
Do I get all the RAW files in the end?
One of the main reasons you hire me is for the years of experience and expertise I bring to the table, and the confidence that gives you in the results of our shoot. Part of my talent is in the environment I try to create for you to inhabit when we shoot together, and the technical skill of capturing the photos in the moment. But a good deal of the work is also achieved in the post-process, during retouching, coloring, etc. For me to hand you RAW, un-corrected files would be like a chef mixing all the ingredients of a main course together, and then handing you an uncooked plate of food. It's not finished or ready, and it's not my work. I've searched for decades to find the tools I use and develop the look I'm delivering, so I wouldn't want to sell you short by giving you a half-finished product and leaving it up to someone else to attempt the same quality you can always expect from me.
How about usage of photos, for Social Media, etc.?
Please go right ahead and use any of our images for headshot, social media (with credit), IMDB (with credit), Deadline (with credit), any personal websites and anything to do with the casting process.
If your curious about using photos for anything else, like press announcements, magazines (print & online), album covers, books and covers and any/all advertising, please contact me directly. All of my work is copyrighted and applicable rates apply to any such usage. You should be aware its usually the the agencies who pay for usage and not the client, so there's really no reason not to let me know :).
Please credit all social media posts and IMDB, @pbrphoto. Find me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/pbrphoto/
What if I have to cancel?
Hey, I get it, life gets in the way of life sometimes. If you have to cancel, just keep a few things in mind:
- $200 of your fee is considered a deposit for the shoot.
-Cancelling three or more days out is fine, I'll simply refund your fee in it's entirety and we can figure things out from there.
- If it's less than three days but more than one day before our shoot, we can move your shoot once without losing your deposit.
- Cancelling less than 24 hours before the shoot forfeits your $200 deposit, I refund the difference and we then have to start over.
- If you have arranged H/MUA through me, and cancel less than 24 hrs before the shoot, you are required to pay them their full fee for the shoot. If this hasn't been transacted separately, this will be deducted from the session fee before refunding any difference.
